Mahart Alpacas is located about 20 minutes southwest of Portland, nestled in the heart of Sherwoods lush farmland. We reside on nearly 40 acres, next to more than a 100 acre wildlife reserve and backing to the Tualatin River. (Click here for a map.)

It was love at first site with these majestic and historic animals. Add to this, the potential business opportunity this industry has to offer, and it was an easy decision for us to dive right in.

Quality care, breeding for color, correct conformation and superior fiber quality are key factors for sure and sustained success in this industry. Our breeding program focused on promoting these aspects from the get go. We started our program by purchasing our foundation herd from one of the most respected, reputable and pioneer breeders in the industry. Our foundation herd is of high quality, diverse colors, proven lineage and superior breeding. It is our intention to maintain this approach through continuing the quality care, breeding up, breeding for color and through a calculated buy and sell program.

We believe in these fine animals, the future of this industry, its objectives and goals. It is our intention to commit our efforts to serving the North American Alpaca community, to continually educate ourselves about these animals and become contributing active members.
